THE HIDDEN TRUTH: WE'RE KILLING OUR FUTURE
A CATALYST FOR FREEDOM
how can a person grow up with all this fire around them. our babies are still carrying guns to school. is it in their backpack as they ride the bus? is it on their shoulders as they walk into buildings of "higher learning" unnoticed by passersby? are the parents too preoccupied with life’s heaviness to see it as they drop them off? children are in possession of and operating a mechanism of violence and extermination to spiritually, emotionally and physically destroy the lives of families across the nation. who's plan is this? who is in charge of the target practices? how are they able to inflict so much damage with a weapon they shouldn't even know how to retrieve from it's secure hiding space, let alone operate with such precision that lives are lost with a haunting accuracy? when did we fall asleep? how long will we remain tucked comfortably underneath blankets of darkness-eyes covered with slumber masks-shielding ourselves from the monster slowly creeping through the fog to set the world ablaze. if you believe your family is immune to this unfortunate happening, you're state of rest has delivered you into a space of delirium. we are all connected and when one is affected by the dangerous onslaught of mass destruction, we're all attached to the trauma and misfortune that follows.
we have the ability to utilize our creative acumen and weave a web of interconnectedness, but instead we tap into a destructive portal and trap prey for our own lustful, glutenous, greedy, slothful, envious, wrathful and prideful satisfaction. it’s the way it's always been. now, with such intensity and regularity, however, that senselessness & toxicity inhabit our minds, force feeding us poisonous bites to placate unfulfilled appetites. what will we regret?
greed - makes us believe that no matter how much we acquire, it’ll never satisfy our shadow and we pursue the money with no attachment to our souls. the amount we spend on lottery tickets-if poured into a pot-would be enough to bring us all into prosperity, but at what cost. our separation from one another pushes us into the black hole with no escape in sight. we’ve come to believe that the almighty dollar is the only way we can express our survival of poverty. we flash it across screens and tote it all over our bodies in such excess that it’s become celebrated. when is enough, enough? our babies are watching!!
lust - without love as its balance will rot ones capacity to actually feel true compassion & companionship to the core. our desire for something, anything sans its necessary counterpart will tear us to shreds-neuron by impulsive neuron. the porn industry is a billion dollar business and unfortunately, our addiction to pleasure has increased the amount of human trafficking & sexual exploitation victims around the globe. our babies are watching!
gluttony - what are we feeding them? i know mcdonalds & wendys is quick and easy, but it’s adding to the disruption of our body’s ability to function properly. we are dying before we see our grandchildren graduate, some before our own children walk across the stage for their honors. a form of addiction that slips from our radar, since most suffer from it, is food. we eat when we’re unhappy, we eat to celebrate, we eat three hearty meals a day because we’re “supposed to.” have you ever fasted from a meal? have you ever taken the time to examine your capabilities? we’re so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. its time to dismiss the narrative surrounding “cheat meals,” or “treating ourselves” with fatty, unhealthy foods and begin the journey of seeing our bodies as temples & loving them the same by eating foods organically planted & grown to heal. our babies are watching!
sloth - our comfort zones will kill us. laziness is the new black, because why work hard when you can’t win anyway? these are the thoughts of a defeatist. someone who chooses to live in ignorance, since trying anything at all that’ll require concerted effort goes against their institutionalized agenda. to receive because you are in need is one thing, but to take and refuse effort on your own behalf, because something is free will deprive you of a life worth living. you can’t see the beautiful possibilities due to an irrational fear of success. don’t allow fear to cripple your drive for self-realization. our babies are watching!
envy - have we lost our desire to be the best version of ourselves? what do others have that you do not? how do you know what’s going on inside their home, or is the outward show good enough for you? how did we get so comfortable here and why haven’t we pushed against the machine hard enough to destroy this complacency? they may have more money, but you have no idea what it took or who they took from to acquire it-how many lives lost or families exterminated. they may have a bigger house, but is it made of glass & are the detrimental, potentially catastrophic secrets expertly hidden behind mirrored doors? they may have a fancy cars, but may be in debt because the added maintenance & upkeep costs were unforeseen. you are enough. do not destroy your sense of self or anyone else’s pretending to be someone you’re not. our babies are watching!
wrath - “GOD grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change. the courage to change the things i can. and the wisdom to know the difference.”
vengeance does not belong to us. the extreme anger that’s boils over in heated moments of disappointment and/or frustration originates from lack. the lack of peace and the inability to assert boundaries without pursuing conflict. standing your ground does not require physical strength or force. it requires inner strength & mental endurance. yes, assert the ferocity of your shadow but balanced in tandem with the light of forgiveness. holding onto the anger after-the-fact, is what catapults this necessary emotion into unnecessary harmful action. get to the root of the issue on both sides & forgive without apology in order to live in peace. our babies are watching!
pride - is the devil!
“terrified, paranoid
i’ll put you over everything to fill the void
and when you’re gone, will i have anything
or will i be destroyed?”
the accuracy of j. cole’s lyrics on one of my favorite tracks, “pride.is.the.devil,” is astounding. it’s the void we seek to fill that’s overflowing with years of built up insecurities. we push away healing & emotional enlightenment because it would require us to let go of our egos and find safety in the unknown-in our light. pride says, “naw, im cool with life just like this-it’d be too much to unearth & process.” time heals all wounds anyway, right? well, how much time do you believe you have? and why limit yourself to a life of stagnancy. time gives us the opportunity to grow, but if we decide to ignore the root of our traumatic past, time will simply pass and we will still be buried underneath the pain. do you wish to continue the domino of this illness throughout your lineage? our babies are watching!
we are the experiment!
- what price are you willing to pay for your freedoms?
FIRE AND ICE
by: robert frost
some say the world will end in fire,
some say in ice.
from what i’ve tasted of desire
i hold with those who favor fire.
but if it had to perish twice,
i think i know enough of hate
to say that for destruction ice
is also great
and would suffice.
