🙏🏾TOP NOTCH HOSPITALITY 🙏🏾
it was late and i had done it again; gone most of the day without proper sustenance. i was noticeably unaware of my stomach snacking on my sides, for lack of a better option, until the whiff of zerza casually drifted into my aura and landed smack in my heart. once this not so unfamiliar realization set in, i began to desperately crave substance, so i made my way to the menu, scanning - with hope - for vegan options. the two late-night crew creating behind the counter reminded me of the kind of hospitality i'd offered when i worked in restaurants. it's easy to sweep people into your positive, welcoming aura as long as its genuine. if you lead, they will follow. so, i really appreciated the way the staff, although seemingly exhausted from the days' works, handled my presence. they were so patient & kind in their demeanors, full of light and positivity, and generous with their knowledgeable offerings. they'd begun work on their closing duties, but offered me their undivided attention for as long as i required it.
📍AMAZING LOCATION 📍
i'd purposefully strolled into essex market in the lower east side with no bright ideas brewing besides rushing to the ladies room because my bladder is that of a toddler & to charge my dying phone. i usually walk the williamsburg bridge or hop on the F line, which exits in four directions surrounding essex market and dine or relax in with a book or my tarot deck while my phone charges. there is a plethora of stores, banks, train lines and food establishments close by to choose from, but essex market, with more than 20 entrepreneur enterprises to choose from, serve in prime real estate. it's impossible to miss zerza which is located straight ahead if you enter on essex, in the corner on your first right turn once you enter via broome, and a right & left turn if you enter on delancey. and it's even more impossible once you've experienced everything they have to offer.
😋 DELICIOUS - HEARTY FOOD 😋
as someone who thrives on being vegan, i have a tough time, sometimes, not only finding dishes i can eat at non-vegan restaurants, but enjoying the ones i am able to wash down. its as if there's no love in the food from most places, just dishes thrown together in order to accommodate a growing population of plant eaters as an afterthought.
the amazing staff at zerza, however, recommended their flavorful lentil soup for me once i expressed my dietary desires and i am so obsessed with it now, i can taste it on thought alone. they paired the soup with 2 pieces of triangle cut pita bread that was so moist, it soaked up the lentil sauce like twin-flames meeting after years of separation. im not sure i even took a breath between spoon fulls and i must admit, i was overcome with a tremendous sadness once i finished the dish; wanting to eat until my body fell over in nurturing satisfaction. to cleanse my palette after my meal, i enjoyed their refreshing moroccan mint tea, which im now a huge fan of. check out the menu below for your added satisfaction, but be sure to call and ask about the vegan options if it's what you're in the mood for.
peace, love and light
